I was driving it in low first gear when I head a clean metallic break sound and lost all traction in the rear wheels. PTO still turns and the transmission shift levers still engage but no power transmission to the rear wheels. Draft control causes strange hydraulic performance occasionally (the rod attached to the top link may be stuck). The most likely culprit, however, is a stuck unloader valve. You will have to pull the lift cover to get to it. Your shop/service manual will detail how to pull and service the unloader valve. Ford tractors that are built before 7-20-68 that are the new style 1000 series gets 8 quarts including filter and ones built after 7-19-68 get 7 quarts including filter. Those rubber type hydraulic fittings weren't the best idea. What happens is due to vibration the metal gripping part of that rubber nut eats away at the steel line so it' doesn't grab so well.

Hi all, Just replaced the fuel filter on my '72 Ford 3000, did the bleeding as specified in manual, opened bleed screw on filter, fuel came out, opened bleed screw on pump and fuel came out, then opened injector pipes and nothing. I've opened the return pipe on the pump (C.A.V pump) and fuel flowing perfectly aswell.

Well one time it worked then it plainly stopped. I unhooked the tach cable from the generator and turned it with my fingers, the tach began to go up. You have a two stage clutch and sometimes it's hard to balance the drive clutch and the PTO clutch because they frequently wear at different rates. When you crank the engine with bleeder screw out, fuel should shoot out. A dribble is nothing. You probably have a blockage somewhere. Crack open the line from the filters at the injection pump. Recently I was cutting with a rotary cutter and noted that my tractor was being pushed even when I pushed the clutch in. This only happened when the PTO was engaged and attached to the rotary cutter. Yes the pump was juiced up, and it does have a nicer seat than the factory. I did install hydrostatic steering, but over all it is one stronger puller. Comfortable to drive and very quiet.
