Common issue i had when i first got my 1300 was I would shift too fast and be in 5th in city and bike would lug the engine. The Vstar will run in city in 5th gear at a constant speed but I don't. first gear will easily run up to 35mph/50km without shifting but i wouldn't run it that way unless your in a hurry.. first gear about 20 mph/ 35km ...
