Many fans argue that the Kenpom Rankings – a ranking system that ranks all 358 Division 1 teams, should be used to help decide the rankings for March Madness. The rankings were created by Ken Pomoroy in 2002 and are updated daily. The main factor used to rank each team is known as the adjusted efficiency margin.Ken Pomeroy's utilized those factors in his KenPom ratings index, which dates back to 2002 and has become a staple of any serious March Madness researcher.Kenpom is an analytic model based on how efficient your team is offensively and defensively. It has nothing to do with your win loss record. If you want better Kenpom numbers you have to be more efficient on both ends.The Badgers torrid stretch has them in the AP Poll ranked at No. 23, and also has the team shooting up the KenPom rankings. What was a fringe top-20 team entering the season is now ranked No. 12 overall and No. 2 in the Big Ten behind Purdue. That ranking comes from the Badgers having KenPom’s No. 14 offense in the country and No. 22 defense.Well you did lose a lot of close games last year if I remember correctly. 12 by 6 points or less, and I'm fairly certain that KP projected us to win 8 or 9 of them. I think KenPom is accounting for the fact that next year you may end up winning some of those games, accounting for the improvement. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
